Sheltering Bicycle {PP243}

Hi all, boy I am late with my post for The Paper Players!  We had another volleyball tournament for DD this weekend and while I (just barely) managed to get my card done, I ran out of time to write my blog post!   But...better late than never, right?! Sandy has a fun theme challenge for us this week:
I really liked this (older) sketch at Freshly Made Sketches and it was perfect for the small sized stamp I had in mind:
and here's my card....
Sorry for the poor photo quality.....I just could not get a good shot of this card and this one from my phone ended up being the best I could do.  Gesh!  Anyway, I used the little bike stamp from Sheltering Tree and a sentiment from a retired set called Pedaling Past.  You might be wondering about my color choices here....the bike is Pool Party because it is a tribute to my husband's beloved Bianchi bike.  Bianchi bikes are famously painted a color called Celeste Green which is a greenish-aqua very similar to Pool Party.  When I showed DH the color choices and asked him to pick the one closest to Celeste, he went with Pool Party!  This card is pretty simple but the little squares have a nifty little detail.  After I stamped the images on a piece of white cardstock, I cut them out with a square framelit.  Before I popped it out of the framelit, I traced around the inside edge with a Pool Party marker to make the border.  It is a small detail that just makes the squares stand out more.  I also colored the smallest pearls with my Silver Stampin' Write marker to make them look like wheel hubs.  DH was impressed with that detail!  :-)

Be sure to stop by and check out the rest of the design team's amazing creations with Sandy's theme--there's lots of eye candy there!  WE hope you'll play along before the challenges ends on Friday, May 8th at Noon (PST).  Thanks for stopping by!

Nance love the outlined squares. very cool and I really like the colored pearls.
I've used brads, but never thought of the pearls... hugs.

This card is amazing, Nance! Love the little squares and the hand drawn outlines, and what fun to hear how you involved your hubby in the making of your card. Now I have to check out what a Celeste looks like!

Great card! I was so intrigued with your description of Bianchi bikes that I had to Google it! I think he made a good choice with Pool Party since it is a current color but it really reminded me of Baja Breeze. Love your card and the idea of drawing a line around the framelit before you remove is quite genius!

Such a fun detail to have the bikes 'moving' through the squares and I LOVE the tip to outline the squares using the framelits! Brilliant!! I've never though of coloring the pearls silver...will have to remember that...great card and great tips!

Awesome card, Nance! I LOVE the border you drew...unique and clever! And what a great bike color! If I owned a bike, I would want a Pool Party colored one :)

Love this one, Nance! I love how there is such “movement” on the card with how you stamped the images and the embossed background. I have to go look up Bianchi bikes now… :)

Oooh, may have to CASE this later in the year if you don't mind. My hubby, too, is a proud MAMIL (middle-aged man in Lycra) and Bianchi rider!

Well how did I miss this card?
Very nice indeed, love the color and of course I've seen it in RL looks great.
As others said love the way you traced a border and really like the "moving" bike frames, so cute!
