Another Flower Shop Hive

Hiya peeps! Just a card to share with you on a quick mid-week visit.  I needed one for a co-worker's birthday.  She loves flowers and the color yellow so I made another version of this card--isn't it fun when you can CASE yourself?  It makes the creative process so much easier!  Wanna see?
Oh this card makes me happy...and I hope it makes my co-worker happy too!  I thought this pattern from the Wondercolor Wonder DSP was a good match to Crisp Cantaloupe so I stamped the Flower Shop flowers in Tangerine Tango onto Crisp Cantaloupe cardstock.
I stamped the Hardwood background stamp in Crushed Curry onto Daffodil Delight cardstock after running it through the Big Shot with the Hexagon Hive die.  Oh, how I love this die!  To the flowers I added a Crushed  Curry center punched with the Itty Bitty Punch Pack and a pearl.
Because I used the Naturals Chevron ribbon, I used Crumb Cake as my accent color for the banner, leaves and card base.  It's a good neutral to tone down the bright shades of the other colors.
Because there are many people at work who need to sign this card, I added two panels to the inside and took care to line up the strips of DSP across the bottom.  I used another Flower Shop image on the inside in Crisp Cantaloupe as well as a few from Fabulous Florets in Daffodil Delight.  I hope you've enjoyed looking at this one as much as I enjoyed making it!  All the supplies used are listed below...thanks for stopping by!

Happy Day to You {PP95}

Hiya, friends and welcome to another week with The Paper Players.  Happy Mother's Day to all the mamas, grandmas, sisters, aunts and friends out there!  I hope you all are enjoying a relaxing day full of family, friends and whatever makes you happy!  Color makes me happy and this week our ever-talented hostess, Ann, has challenged us with this Schach-a-licous beauty:
It's too bad that it's taken me two years to warm up to Poppy Parade since it retires at the end of the month!  Oh well, I'll still keep my ink pad for the occasional bird or flower that just needs a pop of color.   Today it is a flower that needed a little zing and I love how this color looks with the Fabulous Florets stamp set:
Can you tell I've been trying to use up my enormous stash of designer paper?  It's really amazing how it starts to accumulate!  I layered 3/4" strips of paper in the challenge colors on top of some whisper white cardstock embossed with the Polka Dot impressions folder.  The ends were flagged with a 1 1/4" square punch and attached with SNAIL adhesive.
Onto the Whisper White Framelit Label, I stamped the stem/leaf image from Fabulous Florets in Baja Breeze and popped up a fussy-cut Poppy Parade flower from the same set.  I had to show you the crisp, clean sentiment I achieved with a sneak peek of the new firm foam ink pads coming out from Stampin' Up.  OMG, these are fabulous!  Great ink coverage with just a single tap on the ink pad.  I always struggled with Basic Black ink--it looked deep purple, never true black--until now.  The firm foam is great for a crisp image--thank you SU!
I did a little masking on the inside with a companion flower from Fabulous Florets--stamping in again in all the challenge colors.  The sentiment is from the soon-to-be-retired set, On Your Birthday, which will remain a go-to set even after it retires!

On a side note, a big thank you to everyone who left a supportive comment on my final card for the Connie & Mary design team.  I appreciate your kindness and support as I let go of some commitments (as hard as it is to do).  I will still post to my blog--at least weekly--and will work to bring you all the latest from SU!

So, I would love to know what you think of today's card.  Be sure to pop along to the rest of the Design Team for even more eye-candy.  If you can join us this week, please link up to The Paper Players by Friday, May 18th at Noon (PST).  I hope to see you in the gallery!  Thanks for taking the time to stop by today!

Thankful Thoughts {CCMC169}

Happy Thursday, friends!  It's good to be back from a little break...in fact not just a break, I had a Stampcation -- yes!  A whole weekend of stamping, inspiration, prizes, make 'n' takes and fabulous Stampin Up product displays all dreamed up by the creative talents of Linda Heller and Shantaie Fowler.  I can't thank Linda and Shantaie enough for their support....I was honored and delighted to be asked to present at the event!

I even had my very own board--so cool!  Don't I look giddy in this pic?!  So today's card is a big thank you to Linda & Shantaie for giving me such a fantastic opportunity and for planning such an amazing event--thanks gals, you ROCK!  Alright, on to this week's gorgeous color combination from Create with Connie & Mary, take a look:
Aren't they beautiful?! I combined these colors with Anne Marie's fabulous Paper Players sketch:

 and with thoughts of a Tiffany gift box in mind, I went for classic and elegant when I created this:

Oh these colors are so pretty together!  The bold background panels are from the Timeless Portrait DSP which I layered over Pool Party cardstock that was spritzed with homemade Champagne Mist shimmer spray...it's so difficult to capture the sparkle but take a look:
The flower is made from three fussy-cut Fabulous Florets images which I layered and embellished with Dazzling Details and seven, yes seven Basic Rhinestones...it is Anne Marie's sketch after all!  :-)
And since my Stampcation presentation was all about carrying the design through to the inside of the card, I had to finish this one too:
Thankful thoughts of opportunity, sharing what you love and friends made along the way...I am one lucky girl.  If you've made it to the end of this post, thanks for sticking with me.  I hope I've inspired you to ink up these gorgeous colors and make something pretty!  Be sure to check out the rest of the team over at Create with Connie & Mary where you are sure to find some yummy eye candy!  We would love to see your creation so link it up before Wednesday, October 5th at 12 noon (EST).  We can't wait to see your projects! Thanks for stopping by!

Hello Thursday Design Team!

Oh my gosh, I've been busting at the seams to share my news with you!  I am delighted to report that...I received an invitation to join the Create with Connie & Mary Thursday Design Team!!  This is a huge honor to me as I have been playing along with their challenges for awhile and find them among my faves.  Now, I am excited to share them with you!  OK, enough about me (LOL) you came here for a card and a card you shall have but first...this week's challenge!  It's a sketch challenge--don't you just love sketches?
I flipped the sketch on it's side and made this:
Isn't it happy?!  Last week I was working on a big project with the Playful Polka Dots Simply Scrappin' Kit and many of the elements on today's card are left-overs from the kit...
including this big Daffodil Delight polka dot scalloped circle onto which I layered three Rose Red flowers from Fabulous Florets.  I tucked in a few polka dot leaves from the kit--love how they repeat the polka dots in the circle and the embossed background.  And what is my favorite companion pattern to polka dots?
Why stripes of course!  This fun paper is just one of the great patterns included exclusively in the Simply Scrappin' kit.  Aren't those colors great together?  The banner tag was cut from the Petal Cone die and stamped in Old Olive with a sentiment from Happy Greetings
and I used an left-over piece on the inside trimmed out with a Rose Red scallop ribbon border.
In lieu of the two brads from the sketch, I used the polka dot embossing folder and wrapped the whole front panel in some yummy Rose Red seam binding ribbon.  Love how this ribbon ties so easily!  Thank you for stopping by today and sharing in my happy news!  Be sure to stop by and see what the other Create with Connie & Mary Design Team members did with this week's sketch--you'll find tons of inspiration!  We hope you'll play along with us!

supplies:

Fabulous Inspiration: {PP49}

Happy Paper Players Sunday, friends!  This week The Paper Players have a bonus challenge for you...Anything Goes!!  Your favorite technique, your favorite colors, your favorite sketch--whatever your creative mind can dream up!
 Today, I have an inspiration card to share with you.  Since my paper crafting journey began, I notice colors and patterns everywhere but especially in home and fashion catalogs.  Does this happen to you?  I'm looking at a catalog or I see a top, dress or bag on someone and think about what stamps, paper and colors I could use to turn it into a card!  Today's card was inspired by this beautiful quilt at The Company Store:
Isn't it gorgeous?  So...do you see what I see?  I can't help but see Fabulous Florets in Old Olive, Pumpkin Pie, Rich Razzleberry and Naturals Ivory.  And, here's my interpretation:
It's a pretty simple one, just layered all the stamps from Fabulous Florets in my inspiration colors onto Naturals Ivory cardstock.  I used the Woodgrain background stamp in Sahara Sand to mimic the woodgrain on the side table and headboard in my inspiration photo.  Super simple and packs a big punch in person!  What do you think?  Would you like to play along?  With such a wide-open challenge, we hope you'll find time to join us at this week!  Check out all the design team inspiration at The Paper Players and then link up your lovely creation by midnight (PST) Friday, June 3rd to be considered for the design team's favorites!  Have a great day, friends!

supplies:
stamps: fabulous florets, woodgrain, curly cute

Perfectly Surprised {CCMC}

Perfectly surprised…that describes this week over at Create with Connie and Mary Summer Edition where they are full of surprises and I am SOOOO excited to announce that I am the SURPRISE GUEST DESIGNER for Week #5.  That’s right, ME!   Surprise GUEST DESIGNER!  If you are a subscriber to Create with Connie and Mary Summer Edition, I will be sharing with you a FABULOUS 3D project and tutorial using one of that week's featured products in the Summer Mini.  But WHICH product is a SURPRISE, too!

 Now remember...the only way to see my SURPRISE GUEST DESIGNER project is to be a subscriber to Create with Connie and Mary Summer Edition and sign up now while you can save $5 off the subscription price.  The early bird special of $24.95 ends Saturday, May 14th at 11:55 pm.  Don't delay!

And speaking of summer, I am in love with Fabulous Florets from the Summer Mini catalog!   Today’s card features all of the stamps in the set:
Along with some bright and happy colors: Pumpkin Pie, Rose Red, Daffodil Delight and Old Olive—don’t they look smashing together?!  I used the embedded embossing technique to create my polka dot background:
To a piece of Pumpkin Pie cardstock, I adhered numerous 1 ¼” Whisper White circles and ran the whole thing through the Big Shot with the Square Lattice embossing folder.  I also stamped the smaller flower in Pumpkin Pie on my cardbase in opposite corners.
The big Daffodil Delight flower was created by stamping the big solid flower from Fabulous Floretsthree times in DD on Whisper White cardstock .  Yes, each one was hand-cut but because they are all layered together and the edges appear as part of the flower—the cutting doesn’t have to be perfect!  There are 2 flowers glued together as the base and one popped up on top with a dimensional.  I also stamped the leaf image onto Old Olive CS in OO ink, cut out and crumpled for a realistic look layering one leaf under the top flower for extra dimension.  Some Rose Red seam binding ribbon added a pop of contrasting color—love how it looks with Pumpkin Pie!
The inside of the card received a touch of the Square Lattice embossing folder—just ran it through the Big Shot with just the bottom quarter of the cardstock actually in the folder.  The sentiment from On Your Birthday was stamped in more Old Olive ink and more flowers added in Daffodil Delight and Rose Red

So, were you perfectly surprised?  I sure was…and delighted to be the SURPRISE GUEST DESIGNER #5!  Remember...the only way to see my Surprise Guest Designer project is to be a subscriber to Create with Connie and Mary Summer Edition and sign up now while you can save $5 off the subscription price.  The early bird special of $24.95 ends Saturday, May 14th at 11:55 pm.  Thanks for stopping by and sharing in my big surprise!

Another chance for blog candy!

Hi friends!  This will be a quick post tonight.  Just wanted to share a birthday card I made for my friend and downline, Diane of Rubber 'n' Rafters.  I think she has received it by now...hope your day was fabulous Diane!
As a fellow Stampin' Up demonstrator, I definitely wanted to use new products on Diane's card and boy did I ever!  It all started with the designer paper Beyond the Garden and it's bright floral pattern.  I love how it looks paired with...of all things...Pacific Point!  I've never been a big fan of Pacific Point but I love it with this paper!
I liked it so much, that I embossed another strip of cardstock with the brand-new Flower Garden embossing folder and highlighted the gorgeous flowers by sponging on Pacific Point ink.
Onto a 3" circle of Whisper White I stamped the branch image from Fabulous Florets in Wild Wasabi and overstamped a favorite sentiment in Pacific Point.  Aren't those pink flowers gorgeous?!
I used Versamark ink to stamp the flowers on Pretty in Pink cardstock and embossed the image with our new Melon Mambo embossing powder.  I made three flowers in two sizes also from Fabulous Florets, cut them out, popped them up and gave them a rhinestone center.
Even the ribbon got a new product with our Whisper White baker's twine tied around the trimmed down Daffodil Delight striped grosgrain ribbon.  I just snipped off the two edges of the ribbon and frayed the edges a bit to make it a more manageable size.
And since I had a hard time putting down the new Flower Garden embossing folder, I also embossed the back of the envelope flap.

Ok, so maybe this wasn't a quick post--lots of pictures--but I am so excited to share all these goodies from the new Summer Mini Catalog with you.  There's still time to leave a comment to win my blogoversary candy.  Just leave a comment on my Candy Butterfly post or tonight's post and you will be entered to win!  I'll pick a random winner and announce it on Saturday May 7th.  Have a great Friday, friends!
