Going Places, Going Global PP284

Hey friends, the always awesome Claire has a fabulous sketch for us this week at The Paper Players...check it out:
It's a great one, isn't it?  So, in looking at my stamp sets....the Going Global set really called out to me and a masculine card was the result, take a look...
Claire's sketch was perfect for combining papers from the Going Places designer series paper stack.  And with the Going Global stamp set it was a natural combination.  I kept the colors neutral--Basic Black and Sahara Sand--with just a pop of a Real Red heart.
It's a really simple card--I let the papers do the work--and with the masculine look, I held back on any embellishments.  I did add a little extra dimension by fussing cutting a second compass.

Be sure to check out the rest of the Design Team's fabulous inspiration over at The Paper Players.  Then, grab your craft supplies and join us before the challenge closes on Friday, March 4th at Noon (PST).

A Celebration of Balloons: PP283

Oh it's a fun one this week at The Paper Players where sweet Joanne has a clean-and-simple challenge for us:
Up, up and away!  I couldn't resist using my newly arrived Balloon Celebration stamp set...love it!  First it's photopolymer, therefore totally clear, and I love stamping with those AND it's got the cutest coordinating stamps to layer.

So, this card took me a little longer than I anticipated because a) I was fussing WAY too much about the colors and b) I just can't do random!  In the end, I mostly acheived the random whimsical look of the balloons I was after but it was a challenge!  I chose some pastel colors, inspired by the challenge badge, for the balloons and ended up with Pool Party, So Saffron, Blushing Bride and Smoky Slate.  Do you see that little bit of silver glimmer at the end?  Ooooh, that's the new Sale-a-Bration product--Metallics Glitter Tape, oh my!  It's like glitter washi tape only a little heavier and lovely to work with!
This little intersection of colors makes me happy--I like the way they play off each other and the little overlay stamp of dots is so cute!  I should also mention that it was the clean and simple lines of the sketch at Freshly Made Sketches this week that inspired the layout for my creation--thanks gals!  I'm also linking up to the Global Design Project where their theme is, coincidently, balloons!

I hope you've enjoyed my clean-and-simple card and encourage you to check out the inspiration from the rest of the Design Team at The Paper Players.  Maybe you will join us before the challenge closes on Friday, February 26th at Noon (PST).  Thanks for stopping by!

Sunburst of Happy Colors: PP282

Happy Valentine's Day, friends!  I hope you have a fun day planned with loved ones--near and far!  Wonderful Laurie is our hostess this week at The Paper Players with a bright and happy color combination:

We're in Tampa, FL this weekend for our daughter's volleyball tournament and these colors perfectly reflect the sunshine and bright skies we are seeing.  I hope these colors bring a little sunshine to your corner of the world--especially if it's cold and snowy.  With the Florida sunshine in mind, I couldn't resist breaking in my Sunburst Sayings bundle:
I am in love with this sunburst die!  It's so cute, especially when layered in two of the challenge colors, Daffodil Delight and Tangerine Tango.  The little polka dot sun rays and the sentiment are both from the coordinating stamp set, Sunburst Sayings.
I added some gold accents with Gold Thread and sequins and the Pool Party Glitter ribbon is a dream to work with!
Here's a better angle to see the pretty gold vellum clouds.  I used a die from Papertrey Ink for the clouds and I love the additional touch of gold from some retired holiday paper.
This stamp set comes with a bunch of sayings and sentiments that work just as well on the inside of the card.  The only image not from Sunburst Sayings is the Daffodil Delight brushstroke from A Work of Art.  The rest is all from this great stamp set!

I hope you enjoyed my take on Laurie's sunny colors today!  Be sure to stop by the rest of the Design Team for even more inspiration!  We hope you will join us before our challenge closes on Friday, February 19th at Noon (PST).  Hope your day is full of sunshine!
