A Two-for-One Sketch PP292

Hi friends--I hope you're having a great weekend.  No travel volleyball for us this weekend so it's a rare one at home!  Today at The Paper Players my dear friend, Claire, has a great sketch challenge for us.  Take a look:

Oh how Claire loves her layers!  :-)  I tried to live up to her expectations with today's card so see what you think:
This stamp set, A Nice Cuppa, is on the retiring list and I'm very sad to see it go.  With the coordinating framelits that cut out the teap cup and accessories, it's a must-have.  It's going to stay in my craft room even after retirement!  The coordinating DSP stack Have a Cuppa, is also retiring and I took my color cues from the happy hues it contains: Pool Party, Bermuda Bay, Crushed Curry and Melon Mambo.  If you're wondering about the dimensions for the strips of paper I used, they are as follows:
  • Crushed Curry (yellow) panel: 1.5" x 4.75"
  • Melon Mambo (pink) panel: 1.25" x 3.75"
  • Have a Cuppa DSP panel: 1.75" x 3.25"
I heat-set the sentiment with white embossing powder on my Bermuda Bay teacup and decorated it with a single Iced Rhinestone.  Some Silver Metallic Thread is a subtle accent and almost looks like steam from the teacup.
This was not the first card I made with Claire's sketch though...  When I first sat down to create, I had an idea to use the elements of the sketch for a one-layered stamping card.  I really wanted to use the retiring Summer Silhouttes stamp--another favorite that won't leave my craft room.  So here's the first card I made:
What do you think?  Can you see the sketch elements?  The Pool Party trellis is one of the three panels in the background.  The two stamps leafy vines are the other two panels in the sketch and the large Queen Anne's lace flowers are the circle element.  It was fun to stretch my brain and try to approach the sketch in an abstract way.
One more pic so you can see that I stamped onto Shimmery White cardstock.  I often forget to use it but it's so pretty and just a light dusting of shimmer makes this simple card a bit more special.

Be sure to check out the rest of the Design Team's creations over at The Paper Players.  They have knocked it out of the park...again!  We hope you will join us before our challenge closes on Friday, April 29th at Noon (CST).

A Nice Cuppa Challenge: PP280

Oh my goodness, friends.  This week just flew by, didn't it?!  It's the fabulous Jaydee's turn as hostess at The Paper Players and she has a fun bonus week challenge for us....Tic-Tac-Toe!
So, I had fun combining elements from the T3 board and went with: die cuts, pink, girly and just for fun threw in yellow and ribbon too!
The Nice Cuppa set and coordinating dies seemed just girly enough for the challenge...I haven't met a girl that doesn't like a cute teacup like this one!  I added a touch of lace doily for even more femininity....oh, yes and it's painted with a touch of Wink of Stella too.  The pink hearts from the Cups & Kettles Framelits were cut from Melon Mambo cardstock and, of course, painted with Wink of Stella!  I backed the main panel with a piece of DSP from the Have a Cuppa stack in Crushed Curry--my favorite shade of yellow.
Please do check out the rest of the Design Team inspiration over at The Paper Players and I hope you will join us before our challenge closes on  Friday, February 5th at Noon (PST)...thanks for stopping by!
