Joyful Christmas Wishes PP325

Hi all--here we are at the last Paper Players challenge for 2016.   After this week, we will take a break from blogging to enjoy the holiday!  It's also our last challenge with our amazing Guest Designers.  They have worked so hard all year, sharing their work with us.  Linda, Coleen & Hannelie, I am going to miss you all--thank you for going above and beyond to work with us the whole year!
The fabulous Jaydee is our hostess for a color challenge and she's picked a favorite combination of mine...silver and gold!  Are you singing along with Burl Ives in your head?  I sure am!  I love the contrast of cool silver with warm gold and find it adds instant elegance to any project.
I knew I wanted to create something with an embossed poinsettia for my project so I dug out a favorite retired set for today's card....Joyful Christmas.  The card base is actually thick whisper white cardstock to which I adhered a piece of [retired] brushed silver cardstock.  The whisper white panel was trimmed on an angle for a bit of interest and embossed with the Holly Textured Impressions folder.
The star of this card is the poinsettia.  It is heat embossed in gold on vellum cardstock.  I embossed two images so I could fussy-cut the inside petals and pop it up on dimensionals for added texture and depth.  I heat embossed the leaves from the same set on whisper white cardstock with silver embossing powder and fussy-cut.  The leaves are tucked under the flower and some pine boughs are interspersed after cutting from silver glimmer paper with the Christmas Pines thinlits.  The final touch are some basic pearl jewels in the center.

Pretty easy, really--just a lot of embossing and fussy-cutting!  I hope you will stop by and visit my friends on The Paper Players design team before our challenge closes on Friday, December 16th at Noon (PST).  This will be my last post of 2016 as I take a bloggy break to enjoy the holidays with my family.  Wishing you and yours all the warmth and love of the season...see you in 2017!

Joyful Paper Player Wishes {PP175}

Hiya friends!  Can you believe it's the second week of December--oh my gosh!  So much left to do.....yikes!  But I'm not thinking about it today because our friend Anne Marie has a lovely color challenge for us over at The Paper Players:
Old Olive and Raspberry Ripple are lovely together for the holidays but add Pink Pirouette and you have a wonderful twist on a holiday classic.
After a few false starts, I used my go-to technique of stamping a dark color on light cardstock this time with the gorgeous poinsettia from Joyful Christmas.  Stamping on some textured Pink Pirouette cardstock [from my stash] really gives a nice texture to the poinsettia.  I stamped it twice and fussy-cut the smaller center of the flower to pop up for dimension.
I wanted some pearls in the center but since they were too bright, I sponged them with a little Champagne Mist shimmer paint [retired but still love the stuff!].  The color is a nice match to the the strip of Champagne Glimmer paper.
I was happy to find some Raspberry Ripple patterned paper in the Birthday Basics DSP.  It has a nice [almost] snowflake pattern to it that is perfect for my holiday card.  After embossing the Very Vanilla background with the Pretty Print embossing folder, I sponged on a little Champagne Mist glimmer paint as well as Gold metallic ink for some extra shine and sparkle.
I stamped another poinsettia on the inside in Raspberry Ripple ink--stamped off once--and then made a mask so the Old Olive leaves would just peek out on the sides.

Be sure to stop by The Paper Players and check out some gorgeous from the rest of the Design Team.  I hope you'll consider playing along with us before the challenge ends on Friday, December 13th at Noon (PDT).  Thanks for stopping by today, friends!

A Double Christmas Star {PP167}

Hi there, friends!  It's another week at The Paper Players where Jaydee is our hostess-with-the-mostess for a beautiful color challenge:
Two of my favorite shades of blue! I love blue for holiday cards and I couldn't wait to ink up Christmas Star--one of the fabulous single stamps available this season.  I am totally in awe of this stunning card by my friend Rita.  You really must go check it out and leave her some love--she's a fantastic artist!  I didn't think it was right to CASE her for my DT card so I tried to mix it up a bit and this was my first attempt:
Try as I might, I couldn't change the layout--it really is perfect! So, I embossed the star with white stampin' emboss powder on Whisper White cardstock and then sponged around with Pool Party and Midnight Muse ink.  Love the effect but I'm not sure I like other details I added.  So....still thinking I should come up with something else, I persevered and here's my second attempt:
A totally different look! This really is a simple card with just layers of Winter Frost Designer Series Stack , cardstock and Glimmer Paper.  The real stand-out is the star:
Embossed with Pool Party embossing powder on Midnight Muse cardstock, the Christmas Star really shines and highlights the pretty flourishes.  I used the Simply Scored Board to score across each line on the star.  Folding the points up creates a terrific dimensional look.  And speaking of dimensionals, one on each point is all it took to capture this star in place.
The inside was just begging for another star across the center.  I love the companion sentiments from the Joyful Christmas set--perfect for the front and inside.  I hope you enjoyed my two-fer post today!  Be sure to check out the rest of the Paper Players Design Team with their fabulous projects.  We would love for you to join in the fun before our challenge closes on Friday, October 18th at Noon (PDT)
