A Clean and Simple Corner Garden - PP394

Hiya friends, and welcome to another week with The Paper Players!  This week my talented friend, Laurie is our hostess and she's asked us to created a Clean-and-Simple card featuring Blooms:
I knew right away what I was going to do but the hardest part was figuring out which color to use...
In the end, I decided that the white embossed blooms looked the prettiest on the dark green.  Have you heard about the SU Color Revamp?  Every once in awhile, SU refreshes their color palette by letting go of some colors and bringing in new ones.  This year, I was thrilled to see the return of several retired favorites, including Mossy Meadow featured on today's card!  My card is as simple as can be...just one layer heat embossed with one of my favorite [retired] stamps, Corner Garden.  The sentiment is also heat embossed and comes from a current set, Beautiful Bouquet.
I left room on the inside for a hand-written note but stamped the garden again on Whisper White in Mossy Meadow ink.  That's it for me....clean-and-simple!  Be sure to check out all the inspiration from the rest of the team at The Paper Players:

Corner Garden of Emeralds PP335 & FMS278

Green is my favorite color...so many pretty shades.  From deep forest green to the softest sea green, I love them all!  So, it was with great anticipation that I looked forward to the fabulous Jaydee's challenge this week at The Paper Players:
The hardest part was deciding just which shade of green to use?  I went from Old Olive to Pear Pizzazz and none of them turned out like I envisioned....until I spotted a new pack of Emerald Envy cardstock and my Corner Garden of Emeralds was born!
This background stamp, Corner Garden, is retired but I still love it.  The delicate layering of flowers is just beautiful and embossed in white on Emerald Envy cardstock, it really pops!  I needed a subtle layer of color behind the focal panel and this Mint Macaron designer paper is just perfect.  Believe it or not, it's actually the reverse of some SU 2016 Christmas paper.  The DSP featured Mint Macaron and Emerald Envy together and they really do pair well.  The subtle pattern "reads" like a solid--meaning your eye picks up the solid color--but the slight pattern adds just enough interest.
The gals at Freshly Made Sketches have an awesome sketch this week and it gave me the perfect layout for this card.  Per the sketch, I tried a couple pieces of cardstock behind the main panel but they all looked to heavy.  I tried some bits of ribbon instead and really liked the look so I went with it!  The 4 pieces of Whisper White Organza ribbon were attached to a scrap piece of cardstock with snail adhesive.  I attached the ribbon + cardstock to my base card and trimmed the ribbon to the width of the card.  I like the soft white color it provides while the satin adds a little elegance to the design.
Also per the sketch, I added an extra flower that was embossed in white and fussy-cut.  It's a little higher than the sketch placement but I think it works!  The sentiment is from Birthday Blooms and I use it all the time!  Love the mix of fonts.  Here, I inked it in Versamark, then Emerald Envy ink and heat set with clear embossing powder for a custom embossed sentiment.
I used Corner Garden again on the inside, this time stamping in Mint Macaron ink. The sentiment is an old one from a long-ago retired stamp set that I can't even remember the name of!  I kept it just for this sentiment because, well...good friends are hard to find and they should be celebrated!

Come on over to The Paper Players and celebrate by playing along with us!  Check out all the fabulous inspiration from the rest of the Design Team and then link up your creation before the challenge closes on Friday, March 17th at Noon (PST)!

Corner Garden Sketch {PP201}

Hello friends!  I have another new stamp to show you today using my sketch over at The Paper Players where I am the hostess this week.   Here's my sketch:
I received the large stamp called Corner Garden along with my new catalog goodies and I wanted to try and show a different way to use it.  This stamp is actually pictured in the catalog with the background stamps but can be used in lots of ways:
Coloring on Crumb Cake cardstock gives a much different feel to this stamp than if it were stamped on white or vanilla.  It has a rustic and natural look doesn't it?  I stamped the image on Crumb Cake with Versamark and heat embossed with white embossing powder.  I tried the image on a horizontal panel but I liked it better vertically.  To accommodate the image, I took creative license and flipped my sketch.
After heat embossing, I went to town coloring with my new Blendabilities markers using Old Olive, Coastal Cabana, Pumpkin Pie, Daffodil Delight and Rich Razzleberry.  The Crumb Cake "canvas" turns these otherwise bright colors into a more subtle, deeper shade.  I used a Chalk Marker to add some swirling dots to my leaves.
This stamp is such a pretty line image that I had to stamp it on the inside too--coloring the sentiment in all the other colors used for the flowers.  This is my first card using the Blendabilities markers and while I still need quite a bit of practice, they are fun to work with--especially on Crumb Cake cardstock!

Be sure to pop over to the rest of the Design Team to see what they have made with my sketch.  I hope you will join us before the challenge ends on Friday, June 27th at Noon (PST).   I realize that in last week's post I forgot to share more pictures from our Italy trip. Take a peek below if you're interested...

There are endless views like this in Venice.  Every side street, every bridge leads to an amazing vignette.

In no particular order just sharing images I like....We drove along the Amalfi Coast from Sorrento and while it wasn't the brightest day, sights like this one still took our breath away:

Just before sunset on the last night of our tour, the view from our hilltop restaurant in Sorrento.  The restaurant was host to a wedding reception while we were there and do you know what?  They dance to the Y.M.C.A at weddings in Italy too!!
We departed from the tour and took a side trip to Sora, about 2 hours from Rome.  It is the birthplace of family members we were traveling with so it held special significance.  A beautiful town and one of my favorite stops was the Basilica San Domenico.

Thanks for stopping by today!
