Music & Joy {PP66}

Happy Paper Players Sunday, friends!  It's good to be back--I missed stamping with my Players pals last week!  LeAnne is our sweet hostess for this week's theme challenge: music!  Add music to your project or create a project inspired by your favorite song...whatever puts a bounce in your step and gets you stamping!

Music is always around our household and most of the time it is my husband's choice but come December 1st, I get  to play Christmas music...and hubby just groans, lol!  But, he indulges me with the Frank Sinatra Christmas album and Vince Guaraldi Linus & Lucy--my two favorites!  So with Christmas in mind, here's what I made for you:

The color combination is a Splitcoast Stampers color challenge last week: Early Espresso, Cherry Cobbler and Pool Party.  Aren't they pretty together?  Such a fresh take on the holidays!

I embossed this image from Comfort & Joy with Cherry Cobbler embossing powder and then colored the dove with a blender pen and Pool Party ink.  Letting some Very Vanilla peek through the dove's middle and some extra shading on the wings, really gives it dimension.  A little Dazzling Details on the wing tips match the shimmer border at the top.

Here's the musical score from Nature's Pace inked in Pool Party on the same color cardstock.  Lots of ribbon detail here with Cherry Cobbler quilted satin and Very Vanilla seam binding onto which I stamped the sentiment from Comfort & Joy

This detail gets lost in the first picture but wanted to you to have a closer look.  I stamped the same dove image repeatedly across the bottom half of the card in Cherry Cobbler ink.  It gives a really nice tone-on-tone textured look and adds just a little more interest.

Lastly, a peek at the inside with my favorite technique of repeating the main image from the front but stamping off so that the sentiment is the focus.  I also sponged the edges lightly with Early Espresso ink and added a strip of EE cardstock behind to draw your eye in.

Thanks for joining me under the Canopy today....be sure to check out the rest of the design team for their amazing projects!  This week we welcome our October Guest Designer, Cindy Hall--she is one of the nicest people I've met in blogland and you're going to just love her gorgeous style!

Very pretty, Nance. Those colors ARE wonderful together. My paper came in on Friday, so I'm back in business with the woodgrain! :) I love the sentiment on the seam binding; first time I've seen that and it looks amazing!

So pretty! I would never have thought of that color combination, but it really works. The touch of pool party on the dove is just gorgeous against the cherry cobbler embossing. Starting to see so many great ideas for this set, may need to add it to my collection.

Nance...great color combo! I tried to sneak in some Baja Breeze with my Cherry Cobbler, but it wasn't in the stars this week.

Love the subtleties in your card. The hint of glitter and the splash of blue on the bird are just perfection! Gorgeous card.

Nance very pretty and colors I would not have thought went together, but they look lovely.
Love your details as always, BG stamping on the front, and little sentiment on the ribbon, topped off with a sweet button. I really like the music softly in the background... very pretty.
PS: I heard about Arden's library book (Frank Sinatra) too cute, which your mom said must be from Christmas music.
Hugs.

Beautiful card Nance, I love Pool Party and the way you have used it so well as an accent! Love the silver glimmer paper too.

Nance, This color combo is fantastic and is perfect for the holidays. I love all the details of your card. The woodgrain paper really sets off the main stamped image. I love how you have added sparkle throughout the card. What can I say.. You gotta have The Rat Pack for the Holidays - cause "Baby It's Cold Outside". One of my favs from Vince Guaraldi is "Christmas Time is Here" such a great Christmas arrangement - and will now be stuck in my head all day:). Great card and musical inspiration.

I LOVE the colors. This year, Pool Party seems to be making all old color combos new again. The dove is beautifully colored, and I know this might surprise you, but I love the little addition of Dazzling Details! Just love every little detail. So glad you're back!

Wonderful card, Nance. I love the little banner you've created with the ribbon and the bit of bling on the dove. Awesome.

It's those subtle details that really make your cards stand out and this one is great. In particular I love the hint of bling with dazzling diamonds on the dove and like the perfect amount of watercoloring. Your ribbon detail is great, and I have to say this color combo is one of my faves!! Great job.

Such a pretty card. Even better, those 2 CD's are our go-to Christmas music too! I love a little Frank during the holidays but the Charlie Brown music brings me back to my childhood. Thanks for a great card and the lovely trip down memory lane!

Wow, those colors are awesome, Nance! I especially love that glimpse of silver glimmer paper - everything about this card really pops! Just love it!
