Hello, Fall (not!) {PP210}

I wish I could say it was fall or even close to being fall around these parts but here in North Florida it is still full-on summer.  Ugh.  But with a slew of pre-order items from the upcoming Holiday Catalog, it can be fall in my craft studio!  Today at The Paper Players Jaydee is host for a wonderful sketch challenge:
I couldn't wait to use some sneak peek items and settled on using some of the fall themed products because I couldn't bring myself to make a Christmas card just yet.  :-)
 My demonstrator friends will recognize that today's card is inspired by one shown in Stampin' Success, our monthly demonstrator magazine.  I changed the layout and added designer paper to brighten it up a bit.  I love stamping in the negative space--the space left behind when you punch or cut out a shape--so with the Circles Framelits I cut a circle into the mat of DSP and stamped the cardstock behind.
You need to see a close up of these stamps to appreciate the detail.  Look closely at the watercolor swatch in the background.  It actually has a texture to the stamp that makes it look a bit like cheesecloth--so cool!  This is a sneak peek of the stamp set For All Things.  They showed it to us at convention and I couldn't wait to get my hands on it!  And, did you see that big brushed gold button?!  Yep, it's another sneak peek from he Holiday Catalog.  They're flat and the brushed finish gives a nice subtle finish to the gold.  They are just like the Silver Basic Buttons we have in the big catalog.  Love!
Just a little finish to the inside--nothing fancy--but I love how you can use just a scoche of washi tape when you need a touch of color.  Here it's--you guessed it--another sneak peek Color Me Autumn Designer Washi Tape.  Come on say it again with me--LOVE!  This and all the other sneak peek items I've used are listed in the table below.  You're going to LOVE all of them and nearly everything else in the Holiday Catalog.  I do think it's the best one yet--SWOON!

I hope you'll play along with Jaydee's fabulous sketch at The Paper Players before our challenge closes on Friday, August 29th at Noon (PST).  Be sure to check out the rest of the design team for even more spectacular sneak peeks on display!

Kinda Eclectic Scrapbook page: display sample

Hi friends, I have another display stamper project for you using the Kinda Eclectic stamp set.  The photo is one of my favorites from our recent trip to Italy.  We visited a gorgeous vineyard in Tuscany and the seting couldn't have been more beautiful.  I tried to capture the natural beauty of the scenery in the colors, textures and images I chose for this page:
I think you can figure out all the elements I used...the Flowerpot DSP, Skinny Alphabet stamps and Crushed Curry embossing powder for the sunbursts.  I did fussy cut the leaves but it wasn't really that difficult, I promise!  You might be wondering how I got that cool word polka dot background though...wanna see it closer?
Did you guess yet?  I used the Dots Decorative Mask as a stencil--I laid it on my cardstock and then using Crumb Cake ink, stamped the Dictionary background stamp through the circles.  I have to say I was quite please with myself!  Recently, I have seen other demos using markers to color in the dots and doodling all sorts of things and I think that's just genius!  I just stamped through the hole for a stenciled effect.  Simple!

I hope you liked my scrapbook page today...join me again on Sunday when I will be back stamping with my Paper Players pals.  Until then, have a great weekend!

Believe in Your Star

Howdy friends! I thought you might have missed my usual Sunday Paper Players post (taking the week off from DT duties) so I decided to treat you to a Monday post instead.  Today is our daughter's first day of fifth grade.  Yowza, how did THAT happen?!  Fifth grade is a big year with lots of responsibilities.  Safety Patrol, senior elementary student, setting the example for the 4th graders in her mixed 4/5 class, etc.  I wanted to let her know how proud we are of her so I made something she can hang in her locker as a daily affirmation:
I swear I didn't make her change her top for the photo shoot, lol!  Locker accessories are all the rage with the school-age set so I knew she would love something she could hang in her locker.
I selected the colors to coordinate with her backpack and other locker knickknacks and I'm pleased with how well our SU colors coordinate: Daffodil Delight, Strawberry Slush, Basic Black, Pool Party and Tangerine Tango.
How 'bout a few close ups of the details?
Of course, I wrote a little message to her on the back of the banner with the hope that every time she looks at it in her locker she will be reminded how special she is and to believe in herself,  OK, I better stop there before tears drop on my laptop!  :-)  Anyway, it's back-to-school time for many of us whether we have children, grandchildren or special children in our lives.  Consider making a banner like this one to brighten their day and their locker!

I used a few retired supplies but most are currently available:
