Hooray, a Fan-tache-tic Birthday!

Hiya friends!  I've got another Paper Players card for you today but first, take a look at the fun challenge that Jaydee is hosting this week:
You would have to be living under a rock if you didn't know that mustaches are [still] the rage.  :-)  Among the younger set (like our DD), mustaches appear in unexpected places--on a squirrel, a clock, whatever!  You name it and she's probably got a doo-dad, t-shirt or locker accessory with a mustache on it!  My husband mumbles, "I just don't get what it is with mustaches...".  Well, I don't profess to "get" it either but I do think they are cute and couldn't wait to use the oh-so-reasonably-priced Mustache Framelits die ($7.95!!) on my card today:
Isn't it cute?  My husband says, "yeah, it's cute but I don't get it"--lol.  I had a male co-worker in mind when making this card.  His birthday is coming up and he is a HUGE Florida Gator fan.  While the cool colors in the Confetti Celebration DSP I chose didn't include Gator blue, I decided to highlight Gator orange--AKA Tangelo Twist.  Really loved this week's sketch from the talented gals at Freshly Made Sketches.  Love how their sketches are always right in time for designing my Paper Players card!

The plain cardstock mustache looked a little...well, plain!  So I stamped the line image from Gorgeous Grunge across it multiple times in Tangelo Twist and I really like the results.  Almost gives  it a textured look, doesn't it?  You can also see, in the background, that I popped up the panel of hexagon DSP for some extra dimension.
My Six-Sided Sampler stamp set hadn't seen any ink in a long time so I brought it out to play off the hexagons on the DSP.  This [retired] stamp from Happiest Birthday Wishes coordinated perfectly with the Hooray sentiment from the current Remember This stamp set.

I hope you will remember to pop over to The Paper Players and check out the other eye candy from the rest of the Design Team.  You're sure to find loads of inspiration for masculine Clean-and-Simple cards!  Maybe you'll play along with us before our challenge ends on Friday, September 26th at Noon (PST).

I love this, Nance! I couldn't wait to read how you created the mustache. It came out great, looks like wood veneer. Awesome card!

Mustaches are the perfect choice for a masculine card. Adding the grunge lines gave it the just the right look.

I try to pretend "to" get it also. My son is into his very own "stache" as he calls it. I'm a little drawn to the rage also. Love the color you added for yours and your card looks great with all the layers!

Nance, this is such a fun card! I don't "get it" either, but I know the stache is the rage! I love the grunge you added! It gives so much texture. Of course, I love the decorated inside of the card, too! Your friend will love his card in Gator colors! XX

This is really fun, Nance! I love the "texture" you've stamped on the 'stache -- very clever. While I can't say I really get the whole mustache craze either, I will say that this die is really cute, and I love how you've used it here.

Hi Nance
I'm back.
Great card although I'm with all the rest, just don't get it!
Love your treatment of the mustache with the stamping and the subtle stamping on the card base, great choices of DSP too to compliment all the other items.
Of course the inside is also an added bonus!

This is such a great card and masculine ta boot! I am with you on the mustache deal, but I also think it is great to highlight a symbol that is masculine, but can be generic, too. Perfect idea on the texture - I like all of your details.

Nance this is fabulous that big gator orange tache makes me smile - even if I don't "get" the whole tache thing! I love that you paired it with the bright DSP and the fabulous hexagons on the inside.

Yay - great minds do think alike, I love this sketch too! As for your card - awesome! I don't get the moustache thing either and it was really the Santa 'stache stamp set in the holiday mini that sold me on it, but I love the way you created the finish on yours - I really thought this was varnished wood before I read your post! So effective.
