You're a Star Sketch {PP206}

Hey there, friends!  It's another week at The Paper Players and amazing Ann has a wonderful sketch for us to play with:
As soon as I saw this sketch, the idea for a shooting star came to mind.  I had just received the fun set Pictogram Punches and knew what my sentiment would be:
I think this will be a great card to give our daughter in a few weeks when she starts 5th grade (gasp)!  It would make a great birthday or congratulations card too.  My color inspiration came from the Flashback DSP: Crushed Curry, Real Red, Pool Party, Smoky Slate and Basic Black.  The stamp set Be the Star with it's coordinating Star Framelits makes a fabulous layered star.  The Pictogram Punches sentiment was heat embossed in black on Silver Foil paper--isn't that a fun look?  The other two banners were stamped with images from Gorgeous Grunge and the flag ends were made with the Hexagon punch.  All pretty simple, really!
I just love the piercing template that coordinates with the stars and am amazed at how much dimension just a little bit of piercing adds to the inside.  This sentiment, from Fabulous Four, is a great one and has already seen alot of activity in my studio.  You really need it.  Seriously.

You also need to pop over to my friends at The Paper Players to see all the eye candy they have this week.  I hope you'll make time to play along with Ann's great sketch this week before our challenge closes on Friday, August 1st at Noon (PST).  Thanks for stopping by!

This card is a "star"! Love the paper piercing inside and out…of course, the interior could pass for an exterior too…it's star quality!

What a great card Nance! I am in love with these stars but especially like the black embossed sentiment on the foil banner and that paper pierced star inside which really adds a special something. I agree with you on that sentiment set too - it is fab! Welcome back from Convention. xx

Nance, I love your card! Your daughter will cherish it! I know she is a star, just like her Mama! The paper piercing is a great technique that I always forget about. The twine looks great, too! Best wishes to your daughter in 5th Grade! Such an important year for her! XX

Nance, I love the outside of your card. It's clean and simple in concept, but rich in detail. The raised sentiment, the star stamped on the star, the rolled twine, the fabulous DSP. However, it's the inside which really got me :-) I love the idea of the pierced star. Fabulous
