Sunflower in Color {PP147}

Hiya friends!  I hope you are having a wonderful weekend.  We're headed to the beach today for some fun and relaxation...can't wait!  Our weather has been perfect for the long holiday weekend and we are looking forward to enjoying it.  Anywho, on to the card....  This week at The Paper Players, the lovely and talented LeAnne is our hostess with a fabulous sketch for us to try:
I really like the color blocked look of the squares and rectangles and after a few false starts with designer series paper, (lol) I decided to make color the focal point and just use cardstock:
I stumbled on this color combination when some ink pads were on my desk and I really like it: Pumpkin Pie, Coastal Cabana, Daffodil Delight and Baked Brown Sugar.  It's fresh and sunny, so the Sunflower background stamp seemed like a natural fit!
I taped all my piece of cardstock together and stamped the Sunflower in Baked Brown Sugar.  Then I removed the tape and matted them with a piece of Baked Brown Sugar cardstock.  Doesn't Baked Brown Sugar look pretty on Coastal Cabana?
The Tiny Tags stamp set and coordinating Jewelry punch may be retiring but they won't be leaving my craft room any time soon.  They're perfect when I need a small sentiment that won't overwhelm the rest of the design.
The Sunflower stamp isn't just for backgrounds!  I stamped just the corners of the inside in Daffodil Delight and Pumpkin Pie which coordinate nicely with the Baked Brown Sugar sentiment.
I hope you've enjoyed my Sunflower in Color card today.  Be sure to stop by The Paper Players and check out the rest of the Design Team's projects.  We hope you will join in the fun before our challenge ends on Friday, May 31st at Noon (PDT).  Thanks for stopping by and have a great day!

A Sunflower for Connie & Mary

Happy Thursday friends and welcome to another week at Create with Connie & Mary!  Connie & Mary alternate between sketch and color challenges and this week they have this color palette to inspire you {CCMC163}:
and here is what I made for you:
I was inspired by a card in our demonstrator magazine, Stampin' Success, that uses the Sunflower background stamp.  First, the sunflower was stamped onto Naturals Ivory cardstock in Tangerine Tango, inked again in TT and stamped onto So Saffron cardstock.  I tore sections from the So Saffron, sponged the edges with SS ink and adhered to the Naturals Ivory panel.  Love the dimension achieved with the torn paper!
I also remember a card my friend Joan made where she cut out the petals of the sunflower.  I loved the effect so I snipped out a trio of petals and popped them up on dimensionals for a little extra lift--thanks Joan!  My mom had the great idea to snail down the tips so they blended in--thanks Mom!
I also stamped a few waterspots from French Foliage and spritzed the whole front with homemade Champagne Glimmer Mist.
Yes, there's the Pacific Point peeking out on top of the First Edition DSP.  An Antique Brad and a little tiny tag finished it off!  And there you have it!  I hope you liked today's Sunflower card--would love to know what you think.  Be sure to stop over at Create with Connie & Mary to check out the rest of the design team's fabulous  samples.  We hope you'll play along with us!
