Hooray, a Fan-tache-tic Birthday!

Hiya friends!  I've got another Paper Players card for you today but first, take a look at the fun challenge that Jaydee is hosting this week:
You would have to be living under a rock if you didn't know that mustaches are [still] the rage.  :-)  Among the younger set (like our DD), mustaches appear in unexpected places--on a squirrel, a clock, whatever!  You name it and she's probably got a doo-dad, t-shirt or locker accessory with a mustache on it!  My husband mumbles, "I just don't get what it is with mustaches...".  Well, I don't profess to "get" it either but I do think they are cute and couldn't wait to use the oh-so-reasonably-priced Mustache Framelits die ($7.95!!) on my card today:
Isn't it cute?  My husband says, "yeah, it's cute but I don't get it"--lol.  I had a male co-worker in mind when making this card.  His birthday is coming up and he is a HUGE Florida Gator fan.  While the cool colors in the Confetti Celebration DSP I chose didn't include Gator blue, I decided to highlight Gator orange--AKA Tangelo Twist.  Really loved this week's sketch from the talented gals at Freshly Made Sketches.  Love how their sketches are always right in time for designing my Paper Players card!

The plain cardstock mustache looked a little...well, plain!  So I stamped the line image from Gorgeous Grunge across it multiple times in Tangelo Twist and I really like the results.  Almost gives  it a textured look, doesn't it?  You can also see, in the background, that I popped up the panel of hexagon DSP for some extra dimension.
My Six-Sided Sampler stamp set hadn't seen any ink in a long time so I brought it out to play off the hexagons on the DSP.  This [retired] stamp from Happiest Birthday Wishes coordinated perfectly with the Hooray sentiment from the current Remember This stamp set.

I hope you will remember to pop over to The Paper Players and check out the other eye candy from the rest of the Design Team.  You're sure to find loads of inspiration for masculine Clean-and-Simple cards!  Maybe you'll play along with us before our challenge ends on Friday, September 26th at Noon (PST).

A String Full of Hexagons {PP186}

Hiya friends! The always-amazing-Anne Marie has a fabulously fresh color combination for us this week at The Paper Players:
Isn't it great?!  I was immediately drawn to the bold geometric shapes of the film reels as well as the repeated circle elements.  I've been making lots of flowery and girly cards lately and wanted something a bit more gender neutral.  With all that swirling in my head, here's what developed:
I suppose the glitter dots and silver Baker's Twine tone down the masculine effect but otherwise I think it could be for anyone.  The Smoky Slate main panel was stamped with Off the Grid in the same color ink--this is my go-to stamp for a bit of masculine grunge without adding bulky layers.  As I was playing around with the layout for the hexagons, I thought they needed a vertical element to "ground" them.  I actually saw the sentiment threaded through a hexagon in the SU catalog and from there got the idea to string them onto some twine.
Centering the holes was easy!  I first punched the hole in some DSP with a 3/4" circle punch.  Next, I centered the hexagon punch over the already-punched hole and voila!  The result is a hexagon with a hole in it!  Use this technique whenever you want a punched center of another shape--works like a charm every time.  Again, sticking with the idea that I didn't want anything TOO flashy (like rhinestones) I punched some small circles (with the Cupcake Builder punch) from silver glimmer paper and attached with a small amount of Tombow glue.  Nice and flat for mailing too!
Since I started with the stamped images from Six Sided Sampler but didn't use them on the front, I added them to the inside with a fun pairing of sentiments from Remembering Your Birthday.  That's it for me....I hope you'll remember to pop on over and check out the rest of the Design Team inspiration at The Paper Players.  If you can join in the fun just make sure to do so before the challenge closes on Friday, March 14th at Noon (PST).  Thanks for stopping by today!

Six Sided Tic-Tac-Toe {PP152}

Happy Sunday, friends! This week lovely LeAnne is hosting our bonus 5th week Tic-Tac-Toe challenge over at The Paper Players:
Just choose any three items across, down or diagonally and have fun with it.  I had the Six-Sided Sampler stamp set (say that 5 times fast!) in mind when I picked Embossing, Friendship and Ribbon to make this sweet little card:
I started with the Epic Day designer paper and stamped a bunch of the hexagons from Six-Sided Sampler in the DSP colors: Calypso Coral, Pool Party, Daffodil Delight and Gumball Green.  Once the hexagons were punch out with the coordinating Hexagon Punch (love!), I played around until I found a pattern I liked using this week's Freshly Made Sketch(es) as my inspiration.
The other thing I love about the Six-Sided Sampler set is the wonderful sentiments that come with it!  I featured one on today's card--it's just perfect for the "friendship" element of LeAnne's Tic-Tac-Toe board!  I also used some new Candy Dots and the Alphabet Press embossing folder.
I had several punched hexagons left over so I added them to the inside along with a sentiment from Four You--soon to be a much-loved set in my craft room.
I hope you like my Six-Sided Tic-Tac-Toe card today...be sure to check out the rest of my amazing teammates over at The Paper Players.  Maybe you'll join us this week?  There are lots of possibilites with Tic-Tac-Toe!  Just make sure to link up at The Paper Players before our challenge ends on Friday, July 5th at Noon (PDT).  Thanks for stopping by!
