Making Spirits Bright PP374

Hiya friends!  Here it is...the last Paper Players challenge of 2017.  The fabulous Claire is our hostess with a fun and festive color challenge:
These colors screamed vintage to me and the [retired] Festival of Trees stamp set was just the bold and graphic look I was going for:
It took me a few tries on scrap paper but I finally got the pattern I was after.  I stamped alternating trees in Powder Pink, Garden Green and Lemon Lime Twist with accents of Melon Mambo and [more] Garden Green.  These little triangle trees are easy to line up--no MISTI or Stamp-a-ma-Jig needed!  The layout at Freshly Made Sketches gave me the perfect way to highlight my stamped panel.  I just added a little bit of gold glitter washi tape to the border for some sparkle.

 A few more trees on the inside and a fun combination of sentiments from Petite Pairs made quick work of the inside and this card was done!  I hope I've inspired you to play along with us at The Paper Players.  Not only is this our last challenge of 2017, it's also the last challenge with our fabulous Guest Designer, Deanne.  I am going to miss her bright and happy creations but I hope to see her playing along with us in the gallery.  Thank you, Deanne, for giving us a whole year of your creativity and inspiration!  I hope you will find a little time to play along with us before our challenge ends on Friday, December 15th at Noon (PST).  Thanks for stopping by!

A Lakeview of Adventure {PP242}

Hi there friends...happy Sunday!  It's another week at The Paper Players and our fabulous friend Ann is this week's hostess for sketch challenge!
And do you know what else?  It's Ann's birthday today!!  Woohoo!  Happy Birthday, Ann!  May today be as fabulous as you are!  Be sure to pop over to her blog and send her big birthday hugs!  So I hope Ann will forgive me for taking a bit of a....er....um...."abstract" interpretation of her sketch.  I had a couple things in mind and once I started creating, well....creative energy was flowing and I ended up with this:
Oh yeah, and I flipped the sketch on it's side too [insert blush here].  But you can still see the sketch, right?  I used the water and the grass as two of the banners and the linen thread as the third banner element.  The oval is there and the sentiment placement is the same so I hope Ann is OK with it!
I used an assortment of stamp sets on this one and there all listed at the bottom of the post.  I also had to pay homage to my beloved Naturals White cardstock which is on the SU retiring list as well as the Petite Pairs stamp set.  Won't be getting rid of that one--the sentiments are too good and I love the scale of them!  This card is being mailed to the fabulous teacher who recently arranged for my daughter's fifth grade class to go on an amazing camping trip.  I chaperoned the trip last week and it was an amazing experience!

A gorgeous location full of nature hikes...

campfires.....with s'mores of course!

friendship....
 and adventure....
Yes, that's me climbing the 40 foot Alpine Tower...and I made it to the TOP...along with many of the kiddos!  OK, if I haven't lost you yet, you might be even more interested in the goodie bags DD and I made for all the campers...
Like that closure?  Two holes punched in the top of the bag with a stick from our yard threaded through....clever, yes?  I thought so!  Thanks for bearing with all my photos in today's post.  We had such a great time.  I am so proud of our girl and the effort she made to learn new things and test her abilities.  What an adventure!  So, you can see why I needed to make a special card for the teacher who made this whole trip possible.  The rest of the design team have amazing samples for you so be sure to pop over to The Paper Players and have a look!  We would love for you to join us before the challenge ends on Friday, May 1st at Noon (PST).  Thanks for stopping by!

Festival of Trees for the Paper Players {PP224}

Hello everyone! I hope all my American friends had a wonderful Thanksgiving and fun-filled weekend. We had a great holiday weekend with family and friends; it's been beautiful North Florida November weather--bright blue skies and comfortable temps...just perfect!  The fabulous Jaydee is our hostess this week at The Paper Players with a bonus week Tic-Tac-Toe challenge:
Wow, so many different ways to go with this one.  I used this fabulous sketch from the Monday Lunchtime Sketch Challenge on MaryJo's Techno Stamper blog and a diagonal selection from the board--Tree, Embossing, Glitter--to make this:
I have to say that this is my favorite type of color palette for the holidays-icy, cool elegance!  Blues and grays are my favorite.  I started with a piece of Lost Lagoon cardstock and die-cut a circle in the top third.  I then embossed it with the On Point embossing folder and popped it up on a piece of Whisper White cardstock.  I used one of my favorite patterns from the All is Calm DSP and a snippet of Dazzling Diamonds glimmer paper for my rectangles.
The Festival of Trees stamp set was used to heat embossed the trees with Silver embossing powder and stamp the ornaments in Lost Lagoon.  Punched out and set behind one another they really make a shiny statement!
I used one more on the inside because I couldn't help myself!  These trees are so pretty in silver!  Love the sentiments and little parts (like the bird) that come with this set too.  I know you're anxious to see all the fabulous eye candy from the rest of the Design Team so be sure to check out their blogs below.  I hope you'll join us too, before the challenge ends on Friday, December 5th at Noon (PST).  Thanks for stopping by, friends!
