Punch Art Pumpkins for {PP171}

Hiya, friends and welcome to another week with us at ThePaper Players!  I hope you’re having a fantastic weekend wherever you are.  It’s homecoming weekend here and in a crazy college town that means….a long weekend!  The schools are out the Friday before homecoming so that kids can go to the homecoming parade.  I think it’s kinda nutty that the kids get a day off of school—and by kids I mean college-age too—for homecoming but I’m not going to argue with a day off!  Anywhooo….the always-amazing-Ann has a beautiful fall color challenge for us this week:

Just perfect for the season!  I took the easy way out and grabbed some Sweather Weather DSP which features all these colors and put it to work with Linda’s fabulous sketch at Freshly Made Sketches:

I really love this sketch and thought it would look equally as fabulous flipped...and I think it does!  Now, I’m generally not a huge fan of punch art but I’ve always liked these punch art pumpkins.  They're so easy to make with some oval punches and sponges for sanding.  The background papers are all from Sweather Weather DSP which I trimmed out in Champagne Glimmer paper because a girl always needs sparkle with her plaid!

I used the large oval punch three times on Very Vanilla for the large pumpkin and the small oval punch for the little one.  I did add another neutral with some shading in Sahara Sand.  The stem is hand-cut and of course, the leaves where punched from Chocolate Chip and glimmer paper with the XL Bird punch.  For the curlicue, I cut a sliver of DSP, loosened it up by running the bone folder over it a few times, then wrapped it around my paper piercer.  When I pulled it off the piercer and stretched it out a bit, I got this fun curlicue!
I really liked the banner element of Linda’s sketch and to create this look, I notched the end of some Burlap Ribbon and used the side I cut off to create the other portion of the banner.  I thought I was being pretty clever, LOL!

I know the rest of the design team has been clever with these colors so be sure to head over to The Paper Players and check them out!  Then come back and link up your lovely creation before our challenge ends on Friday, November 15th at Noon PST.  Until next time…have a great week, friends!

Truly Grateful for Fall {PP157}

Hiya friends!  What a wonderful week at The Paper Players....this week we welcome a new 6th member of our Design Team....please welcome Sandy Mathis! This week Anne Marie is out hostess for a Fall Themed ABC challenge....anything BUT a card!
The new Tag-a-Bag gift bags made quick work of this challenge!  Combined with the Truly Grateful stamp set, I've got a fun table favor for the Thanksgiving table!
I decorated the gift bag with a tag made from various sizes of Window Framelits and stamped images in Crushed Curry, Early Espresso and Pool Party.
The Chalk Talk Framelits include three sizes of dies for cutting tag openings so I used one to make my tag and thread through some Natural Ribbon and Ruffled Pool Party Ribbon.
The base of the tag is embossed with the Woodgrain embossing folder and sanded.  I attached another Window Framelit stamped with another sentiment from Truly Grateful:
Wouldn't it be fun to have each person at the dinner table write down what they're most thankful for and share it with another family member?  Hope I can remember to do it when Thanksgiving rolls around!  I hope you'll remember to play along with us at The Paper Players before the challenge ends on Friday, August 9th at Noon (PDT).  I'll be taking a little bit of a blog break for the next couple weeks but I'll still pop in each Sunday for The Paper Players....until then...take care, friends.

Stippled Blossoms {PP154}

Hello friends and happy Sunday to you!  This week I am delighted to host a color challenge over at The Paper Players.
Cool Bermuda Bay pairs up beautifully with the warm tones of Baked Brown Sugar and Crushed Curry.  I dove into my box of new goodies and came up with this:
Sneak Peek alert!  The background image is stamped in Baked Brown Sugar onto Crushed Curry using a stamp set from the upcoming Seasonal Catalog called Truly Grateful [love!].  The chevron woodgrain pattern looks like parquet flooring and adds a textured look without the bulk.  Isn't it pretty?!
Stippled Blossoms is a new-to-me set that creates gorgeous flowers every time.  The simple two-step stamp technique creates a depth and dimension that makes the flowers and leaves jump off the page.  The solid flower image was inked in Bermuda Bay and stamped off once while the outline image was stamped full-strength Bermuda Bay. I did a little bit of fussy-cutting and added some pearl and Linen Thread accents just because they make me happy.  :-)
The outline flower image makes a lovely background all on it's own.  Here I inked it in Baked Brown Sugar and stamped opposite corners of the background and sentiment panels.  Can you spot the spots?  Yes, I used Gorgeous Grunge, again, this time in Crushed Curry.  The coordinating Chalk Talk stamp set and Framelits gave me a quick way to add the sentiment here.  I simply scored and folded it over the top of the cardstock--a finishing touch that's nicer than a rough edge.
I'm not really sure what I will use this card for so I left it free of an inside sentiment but just had to stamp more of these flowers.  I resisted this stamp set for a long time, thinking it a bit too much like Grandma's couch (you know what I mean!) but it really is gorgeous.  And done up in Bermuda Bay, it's an unexpected twist!

What isn't unexpected, is the fabulous work of my gal pals on the Design Team.  Please check out their gorgeous work on their blogs below.  They're the best team around!  We do hope you'll join us over at The Paper Players before our challenge closes on Friday, July 19th at Noon (PST).  Thanks for stopping by!
