Clean and Simple Swallowtail PP291

Hi friends, I hope you are having a fantastic weekend.  We're in Jacksonville, Florida this weekend for another volleyball tournament.  My in-laws are visiting from Wisconsin and this is the first time they get to see our daughter play in a tournament.  She's come a long way from the local Girls' Place volleyball and I am so excited for them to see her play and compete at the next level!  Anyway, this week our super talented friend, Sandy has an awesome Clean-and-Simple challenge for us at The Paper Players...Butterflies!

I had so many ideas swirling in my brain but not a lot of time to put them down on paper.  In the end, I went with the one that kept floating to the top and here's what came to light:
I've always loved the Swallowtail butterfly stamp from SU.  It's big and bold but oh, so pretty!  I wanted to play with some of the outgoing In Colors and used Lost Lagoon/Mossy Meadow on the front card and Hello Honey/Blackberry Bliss on the back card.
This card isn't complicated at all but it did take a little bit of figuring to get the background butterfly lined up with the one in the foreground.  First,I stamped the butterfly on the card base.  I then stamped it on the window sheet of my Stamp-a-ma-Jig and lined it up over the stamped image on the card base.  I slipped the center panel (3.5" x 4.75") in between the window sheet and the card base where I wanted it to be.  Holding the window sheet and the center panel, I slipped out the card base and then stamped my butterfly on the center panel.  I popped it up on dimensionals, pierced the corners and lined it up.  I think I did pretty good for just winging it!
I refrained from adding some glitz and glam with sequins but couldn't resist the call of some Wink of Stella painted onto the butterfly.  Can't go wrong with Stella!

You also can't go wrong by checking out the fabulous inspiration from the rest of our Paper Players design team.  These gals knock it out of the park every week and I just love working with them!  If you're inspired to join in the fun...and why wouldn't you be?--just be sure to do so before our challenge closes on Friday, April 22nd at Noon (PST).  Thanks for stopping by!

Paper Players Challenge #196

Hi all, it's Paper Players Sunday!  I'm on vacation this week but encourage you to check out the fabulous inspiration from the rest of The Paper Players Design Team where Ann is hosting a Clean-and-Simple challenge:
I didn't have time to make a DT card for this challenge before I left on vacation but have something made previously to share with you.  It's not CAS but it does feature flowers!
A SCRAPBOOK PAGE!  Not something you see here very often, lol!  I needed to make one for my Display Stamper application and decided to use my favorite school photo of DD.  The colors and butterflies on her dress provided an obvious source of inspiration.
The colors are Wisteria Wonder, Pink Pirouette, Summer Starfruit and Whisper White.  Stamps used are Swallowtail, Everything Eleanor and Flower Shop.
I used the In Color Dahlias on the larger flowers but needed a smaller embellishment for the center of the small flower from Everything Eleanor.  As the saying goes necessity is the mother of invention, I bunched some Summer Starfruit Baker's Twine around a tiny glue dot and voila!  Instant flower center!  Thanks for popping by today for a visit!

Swallowtail Multi-Color Technique

Hi there, friends! I'm so excited to share today's card with you. But first, Jaydee has a wonderful Clean-and-Simple sketch challenge for us over at The Paper Players:
Such a great sketch with all kinds of possibilities.  While at Stampin' Up's Leadership Conference last weekend, we saw a demonstration using multiple ink pads to color the gorgeous Swallowtail stamp from the Spring Catalog.  I was so inspired to try it myself:
I turned the stamp rubber side up and applied ink directly with the ink pad, tilting the ink pad and brushing it on in sections like a paintbrush.  Starting in the middle and working outward I used Elegant Eggplant, Summer Starfruit and Baja Breeze.
Because I wanted the butterfly to float off the edge of the card base and show more of the beautiful stamp, I stamped it again on the Summer Starfruit base using the stamp-a-ma-jig to line it up with the previous stamped image.  I also spritzed a little Soft Suede marker across the card front.
On the inside, I used Baja Breeze and Summer Starfruit only to ink the butterfly, stamped off once and then onto the Whisper White cardstock.  A sentiment from Blooming with Kindness was added to bring in my third color--Elegant Eggplant.

With the large Swallowtail stamp, I've shown you just one way to interpret Jaydee's clean-and-simple sketch.  Check out the rest of the Design Team for even more gorgeous inspiration.  I hope you'll come back to The Paper Players and show us  your creation before this challenge closes on Friday, January 25th at Noon (PST).  Thanks for stopping by today!
