Oh my, that field of lavender is gorgeous isn't it? Beautiful colors and I had the idea that I wanted to make some misty mountains with these colors using the Waterfront stamp set--similar to this card from a couple weeks ago. Whenever I need a kickstart of inspiration I always head to Pinterest and a search for "mountain perspective drawing" yielded this fabulous photo and my idea was born:
It took several tries on scrap paper to get the look of the mountains the way that I wanted--dark in the front and fading out in the distance. This really gives depth to the image without adding any extra layers. This is just one panel of cardstock! The front row of mountains is stamped full-strength in Elegant Eggplant--overlapping the mountain image to make the mountain larger. The second row of mountains is full-strength Wisteria Wonder, again overlapping to make it appear larger. The third row is Wisteria Wonder stamped off once and the final row is stamped off twice. Tranquil Tide stamped off once or twice with another image from Waterfront created the forest floor . The trees were stamped full-strength in Tranquil Tide. Finally, I added soaring birds from the High Tide set and a sentiment from Flourishing Phrases both in Elegant Eggplant. The whole front panel is popped up on a thick Whisper White base.
Thanks for peeking in on my card today...I hope you liked it! Be sure to check out the rest of the loveliness over at The Paper Players. My teammates have outdone themselves with LeAnne's colors this week! Perhaps you'll be inspired to play along with us before the challenge closes on Friday, April 13th at Noon (PST). Have a great week!

Great use of the challenge colors. A lovely sympathy card!
ReplyDeleteYour scene is beautiful...inside and out! And that sentiment is so meaningful...love this!
ReplyDeleteGorgeous scene!
ReplyDeleteWhen I saw these colours they instantly reminded me of your Color Throwdown card from a few weeks ago Nance and I almost CASE'd it - but decided I wouldn't do it justice and should leave well alone and played it safe with florals instead. So glad I did, because this is STUNNING - and I know I would never have been able to pull it off! These colours are so perfect for your mountain scene; the gulls and the sentiment inside are the perfect finishing touches. Gorgeous, my friend!
ReplyDeleteThis is breath taking! I really think you did a super job on this card. keep up the good work!
ReplyDeleteI am so excited about this card! I am glad you chose to make a non-floral card, and you highlighted this set so well! What a beautiful scene--inside and out--as you do in such a nice way!
ReplyDeleteThis is utterly magnificent! It's one of the best things I've seen using this set. Although I don't own it, in my one play of it I realised it's not easy to get such wonderful scenes as this. I love the depth of perspective and mood you've created here.
ReplyDeleteThis card is my favorite! So beautifully done and creative! I have this set but have struggled with the scene building. This is masterful! I hope you're having a great week - Hugs, Annie.
ReplyDeleteNance, where do I start? Your inspiration photo is awesome and reminds me of the lavender farm here on Long Island. And your card - so expertly stamped! You've layered up the images so perfectly and created a stunning scene. For your inside, you've used a favorite sentiment of mine that I won't part with, either. So much fabulousness!
ReplyDeleteNance, this is amazing!!!! I love this gorgeous mountain range you have created! PERFECTION!!! This is a sentiment I will always keep. It is perfect for a sympathy card. I know the recipient will cherish this work of art! I hope you are having a wonderful week, My Friend! XX
ReplyDeleteNance, honestly this is jaw-dropping. Your inspiration photo is wonderful - but your card is even better. You managed to capture so much depth and feeling in your card. It is the perfect sympathy card and the inside is perfect, too. Wonderful card
