Summer fun in the water, woohoo! That's actually where I am this weekend--spending time with family at the beach. I never really enjoyed the beach growing up but 24 years living in Florida has turned me into a beach-lovin' gal!
My card represents my favorite thing to do at the beach....sit. LOL. As a busy mom, I don't really sit much. Even at work, I'm constantly up and walking around. Beach time means sitting in a sling chair just like this one from the Colorful Seasons stamp set and relaxing. The only thing that's missing is a book--my second favorite thing to do at the beach--but I didn't have a small enough book stamp!
Since this is a Clean-and-Simple challenge, there isn't much to explain. Just some simple watercoloring and stamping. My beach scene is painted with a blend of many, many colors including Crumb Cake, Soft Suede, Pool Party, Island Indigo, Coastal Cabana, So Saffron, Daffodil Delight, Peekaboo Peach and Calypso Coral. Early Espresso was used for the chair base and sentiment. The only tricky thing is the chair itself....I stamped it in Calypso Coral on thick Whisper White and fussy-cut it out so it would be a solid color over the watercolor background.
I'm keeping it short today--gotta get back outside! Wherever you are, I hope you're finding a little fun in the sun this weekend! Be sure to check out the rest of the design team inspiration over at The Paper Players. Maybe you will be inspired to play along with us before the challenge closes on Friday, July 21st at Noon. Thanks for stopping by!

Nance, what a perfect representation of a gorgeous sunset at the beach. I know you will be enjoying it. How fabulous to be able to just sit and listen to the water and feel the sun on your skin. You so deserve this rest. I love the bold sentiment of your card and the stamping on the inside to match the outside is the perfect finishing touch.

Your beach scene is just perfect! Love that background, and the chairs look so inviting, I like to sit at the beach too:) Hope you are having a fun time!!!
ReplyDeleteGreat minds think alike! And I am so with you on the need for a book to go with the chair. I'm about to start my third book of this holiday. Love your loose watercolour background and the swirly stitching details around the edge. This is one versatile set. Keep enjoying that beach!
ReplyDeleteNance, Your beach scene is perfect and so CAS.... your colors blend awesomely... and I especially love the wonky stitches around the border. The sentiment is just perfect for the card and many occasions...Love it! HUGS.
ReplyDeletePS: I just love this chair! It's my favorite stamp in the whole set. I use a lot 'inside' with the Adirondack chair..
Gorgeous card Nance, I just received the companion dies for this set, can't wait to try it out, (will probably CAS) your card as I love it's simplicity and colors. Can't improve on something already perfect.

Nance, I couldn't agree more! Sitting and reading is the perfect beach vacation! I love your card! The watercoloring is beautiful and the wonky stitches are so fun! The inside is perfect, too! You certainly rocked my challenge this week, My Friend! I hope your vacation was wonderful! XX
ReplyDeleteI'm all about fun in the sun this week too Nance and all your card is missing is me sitting in that chair, although I am more of a pool person than beach if given the choice! Hope your weekend at the beach was a good one!
ReplyDeleteWow! Beautiful watercoloring and amazing fussy cutting. The card just begs you to sit down and dig your toes in the sand! ~ Annie
