Watercolor Birthday PP347

Hey there friends!  This week at The Paper Players, the fabulous Jaydee has a Theme Challenge that you can have all kinds of fun with:
Birthdays...how fun is that?  We all need birthday cards, right?!.  In fact, it's the type of card I make most often.  I was inspired to use my new Happy Birthday Thinlit again but with a much different background:
I used my watercolor pencils and an Aqua Painter to create my swirly background.  The colors are Daffodil Delight, Bermuda Bay and Pacific Point.  The Bermuda Bay turned out more green than IRL probably because it blended with the yellow but no matter....it's still a pretty color!
The edges were trimmed with my Wonky Stitched dies and I gave a drop shadow to the die-cut sentiment with another layer of watercolor paper.  I also coated the whole die-cut with a Wink of Stella--so difficult to show in a picture but oh, does it sparkle!
The inside has less of a watery look because I used Whisper White cardstock instead of watercolor paper.  I managed to use an Aqua Painter and the watercolor pencils without pilling the paper just with a verrrry thin brush of water.  Two sentiments here from the coordinating Happy Birthday Gorgeous stamp set.  All in all, a super easy super quick card to make.  The Happy Birthday Thinlit did all the work!

Pop on over to The Paper Players and check out the rest of the Design Team inspiration.  We hope you will play along with us before the challenge closes on Friday, June 9th at Noon (PST).  Thanks for stopping by, friends!

  3. What a fabulous background Nance - perfect for that birthday die! I'll let you into a little secret - I so loved your card last week I originally made a card for today using this die too, then changed things around a bit after I'd made my card with the roses, so will be sharing later this week! Love the wonky stitched edging too!
