I think we can all agree that we need a little SPRING, right?! Even here in Florida, it has been cold, rainy and dreary. OK, I know I shouldn't complain...it's not snowmageddon but dang it's been nasty weather! So, with that in mind I wanted to bring on the spring with today's card:
This Butterfly thinlit die makes one gorgeous butterfly! Rather than make a colored butterfly, I used the thinlit to cut one from vellum cardstock. I love the soft, ethereal look of the vellum. I used the same thinlit to cut out a butterfly from a 4" x 5.25"piece of Pool Party cardstock and filled the negative space with a pretty pattern from the [Sale-a-Bration] Best Year Ever DSP. Filling behind the vellum gives a subtle color to the butterfly and lets me pull in other colors to the overall design.
I used a coordinating pattern from the Best Year Ever stack behind the butterfly to highlight the sentiment. The sentiment is from the Indescribable Gift stamp set and I punched it out with the Modern Label punch which I haven't used in forever! It was a little too large and hid the pretty button behind so I trimmed it down considerable and liked the way the button just peeked out from behind adding just enough Crushed Curry color to the mix. I thought it needed a little something else so I frayed some Crushed Curry ribbon, from the Best Year Ever accessory pack, and looped the threads on each butterfly wing using a couple glue dots. Love it!
I used the butterfly cut out from the front panel as a stencil for the inside laying it on my Whisper White panel and sponging on some Blushing Bride ink. Another sentiment from Indescribable Gift was stamped on/off randomly for a subtle effect.
I just know that the rest of the design team has some amazing inspiration for you! Be sure to pop over to The Paper Players to check them out. Then, head to your craft space and share your Spring projects with us before the challenge closes on Friday, March 6th at Noon (PST). Maybe with all our projects we can bring on Spring that much faster!

Oh Nancy this card is just so very pretty! I love the vellum butterfly over the patterned paper, it adds a real softness to your card. The frayed ribbon looks great (I'm going to have to use this somewhere!) and the inside of the card is as beautiful as the outside - a work or art in itself. Great job and perfect for spring!
Beautiful card Nance! Love the sod vellum butterfly and the splash of color from the Best Ever dap. And the button adds some fun dimension.
Fantastic idea to put the designer paper behind the vellum butterfly! LOVE it! The details are truly OTT perfect!! Wonderful card and I am off to PIN!
Oh my gosh Nance your butterfly is gorgeous! Love the vellum with the patterned paper beneath and the loopy gold threads. The inside is just as beautiful, good enough to be an outside!
That butterfly is gorgeous! Fun idea, love the vellum over the DP. Looks like spring to me!!
Wow, your vellum butterfly is so pretty and I really love how you've sponged the inside. Fabulous card, Nance!

Very pretty indeed, love the DSP behind the vellum making it truly butterfly colored!
Very creative fraying a piece of the ribbon it adds a nice touch. I like the softness to the front of the card did you stamp it or is it a design on the cs?
Thanks for your sweet comment, Mom! The cardstock on the front of the card was stamped with the small splatter image from Gorgeous Grunge--can't seem to make a card without it!
This is GORGEOUS!!! What a cool technique...I want to go make one of these right now!
Be still my heart! Nance, this is gorgeous!!!!! I love the vellum and the patterned paper below it! I feel Spring in the air looking at the beautiful card! XX
Oh my gosh...it is just as pretty on the inside as it is on the outside! The gold threads are so unique, and are the perfect accent!
Nance your butterfly looks like he has landed on a stained glass window and I love that you used the same image on the inside. Gorgeous, my friend
