a tisket a tasket a bermuda bay basket!

Just under the wire again but here is my entry for PPA26--anything BUT a card!  I saw this adorable basket on Jan Tink's blog and just had to try it. I'm sure lots of other people have made these already since Jan's post was from last year but as they {used} to say on TV "if you haven't seen it it's new to you"!   Anyway, this basket was so easy and fun to embellish.  The basket is made from 4 scallop envelopes cut with my Big Shot from Bermuda Bay CS.  I wrapped the basket in coordinating prints from the Thoroughly Modern DSP.  I cut another strip of Bermuda Bay for the handle and lined it with the Thoroughly Modern paper.  Can you see the handle close up?  I stamped my sentiment in a repeated pattern on the handle before I attached it to the basket, cute eh?!  Of course, the little bird on the flower is the star here.  The bird is made with the fantastic XL two-step bird punch available in the mini catalog.  But just punching out the paper wasn't enough!  His coordinating wing is run through the Big Shot with the swiss dot cuttlebug folder (my SU one is on order!) AND the bird got a spritz with champagne mist shimmer paint.  Oh so sparkle-y!

Here's a look at a second one I made with the Cottage Wall DSP.  I don't have a good picture of the inside but underneath all that delicious chocolate is another sentiment!  I cut a piece of Old Olive CS to place in the bottom of the basket.  This helps stabilize the basket and also gives the recipient a surprise when they finish all the chocolate.  Hope you've enjoyed my two little baskets--let me know what you think!

  1. Nance I love these little baskets and have made several, but the idea of stamping the handle is marvelous! You always have such great ideas. I love your color choices too. I just got the bird die in my last "box" - now you've given me another way to use it! Hope you don't mind if I 'case' your embellishment.
    Great job as always.

And you are so creative to put that bird punch with the Daisy die- looks fabulous!!! BTW, I've made a box like this but never a basket with a handle- so new to me too!
